WELCOME

 PRESIDENT LION CHUCK REEVE

This site is created to provide information about our Battle Lake Lions Club.  We welcome your visit to the site and encourage you to visit our community as well.  You will find that the motto on our street light posts - Little City, Big Heart - tells it all about the Club, the community and its citizens.

The Battle Lake Lions Club tries to be a good community citizen.  It is currently the only service club.  The Club takes its responsibility as a citizen very seriously as can be seen on the Upcoming events and Major projects pages.

If you are a Lion, Lioness, or Leo and are planning to visit the area, we invite you to join us at our Board or Club meetings.  (Meetings/membership)  We can provide proof of attendance for your club if you wish.

If you are planning to move to the area and are a Lions member or would like to join our merry band, contact any of the Officers at bllions.  We will get back to you with information for a transfer from a current club or with an invitation to join our Club as a new member.  New members must be sponsored by a current member, meet the membership requirements and submit the necessary application form, be accepted by the Board of Directors, and submit the required new member fee for Lions International.  Our current dues are $110.00 per year which pays for the meal at Club meetings, annual dues to Lions International and District 5M 9, and the operating expenses of the Club.

The Club has limited financial resources. The Lions International Constitution requires a club to give any funds raised from public fundraising back through club charitable donations.  Such funds cannot be used for the operating expense of the Club.  We have made the conscious decision to avoid raising funds through charitable gaming and the sale of alcoholic beverages.  Having stated that, we also do not take a position on members who so choose to engage in either or both.  We raise funds the old fashioned way - we earn them through serving meals and similar events.

The Club also believes in the concept of community citizen.  You can see from the Major projects that we engage in many in-kind activities.   Examples are: construction at the City of Battle Lake Park (Lions Park), volunteering to help with labor projects at the new public school, Highway 78 cleanup twice a year, Club sponsorship of youth hearing screening, community diabetes testing and purchase of automatic defibrillators, and additional activities.  The full scope of the Club's activities can be seen at Community Citizen.

Our web site gives you much of the information about our Club.  Feel free to roam around in it.  If you want more information about our Club or the community, please email us at bllions or link to Battle Lake.
